The official Class D/DJ/M learner permit knowledge test at a New York DMV office (or via the DMV's online OKTA testing option) is multiple choice, covering traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices from the New York State Driver's Manual (MV-21). You must answer at least 14 of 20 questions correctly, including at least 2 of 4 road-sign questions. It is offered in English and Spanish.
