Independent educational site · not affiliated with any government agency or DMV
What this site is
Driving Test Practice is a free, independent educational website that helps you practice for your state's driver's-license written knowledge test. We are not a government agency, and we are not affiliated with any Department of Motor Vehicles or Secretary of State office.
What we do not collect
You do not need to create an account or sign in to use this site. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any personal information to take a practice test.
What is stored on your device
Your quiz scores and the list of questions you have missed are saved only in your own browser's local storage, on your own device. The site also keeps a few of your settings there: the language you last used, the state you last looked at, your choice of light or dark theme, your text size and question view, and your sound setting. This data is never sent to us and we cannot see it. It stays on your device until you clear your browser data or your browser removes it (Safari, for example, may delete it after 7 days without a visit), and it does not transfer if you switch browsers or devices.
Cookies and analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not track individual visitors. It counts page views in aggregate and measures how fast pages load, to help us see which pages are useful and which are slow, and it cannot identify you personally. Like any web host, Cloudflare, which delivers this site's pages, receives your IP address when your browser requests a page, because it needs it to send the page to you. To help cover hosting costs, this site uses Google AdSense to show ads; Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve and measure ads, as described under Advertising below. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to official state government manuals and resources. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those external websites.
Children's privacy
This site does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since no account or personal data is required to use the site, we do not collect any; the ads on some pages may use cookies, as described under Advertising. The site is meant for people preparing for a driver's license knowledge test, usually teenagers and adults; it is not directed at children under 13.
How long data is kept
We keep no personal data about you. What the site saves in your browser stays there until you delete it: clear this site's data in your browser settings to remove your scores, missed questions and settings at any time. Cloudflare, which delivers the pages, processes your IP address to send each page to you and to protect the site from attacks, under its own privacy policy; our analytics reports contain only totals, never individual visits.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) give you the right to know, access, correct or delete the personal data a website holds about you, and to object to its use. Because this site does not collect personal data, we hold nothing about you to access, correct or delete. We do not sell personal information. Google's advertising on this site may count as "sharing" under some US state privacy laws: visitors in those states can opt out with the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link shown on pages with ads, and visitors in Europe make their choices in the consent message, as described under Advertising. For any privacy question or request, contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Google Analytics
Besides Cloudflare Web Analytics, this site uses Google Analytics, a service from Google, with Google Signals turned on. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect statistics about how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, the type of device and the approximate location. With Google Signals, Google also adds aggregated information such as interests and age groups, taken from visitors who are signed in to a Google account and have allowed personalized ads. We see only these aggregated statistics, never information that identifies you. You can read how Google uses this data in Google's Privacy Policy. To opt out, turn off personalized ads in Google's My Ad Center (formerly adssettings.google.com), or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to show ads that help cover running costs:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info, or in Europe at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- Google and its ad partners may collect information such as cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and device identifiers. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Other ad technology companies that work with Google may also serve or measure ads; visitors in Europe can see each of them, and refuse them, under "Manage options" in the consent message.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent tool before personalized ads are shown, and can change their choice at any time with the "Privacy and cookie settings" link that appears on pages with ads. Visitors in U.S. states with privacy laws will be able to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information for targeted advertising through the privacy message shown on this site.
Fonts
This site's fonts are stored on its own server, so loading them doesn't connect your browser to Google or to any other third party.
The app for Android, iPhone and iPad
This policy also covers the "Driving Test Practice" app for Android phones and tablets and for iPhone and iPad (Android package name and iOS bundle ID com.drivingtestpractice.app), made by the same independent developer as this website. The app works like the website: you do not need an account, and it never asks for your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
- Questions and pictures: the app downloads them from this website over a secure (HTTPS) connection. As with any website visit, Cloudflare, which delivers the files, receives your IP address to send them to you.
- What stays on your device: your language, your state, your settings, your scores, missed and saved questions, flashcards, exam simulator results, your daily goal, streak and badges, and the counters that space out ads and the rating request are saved only in the app's own storage on your phone or tablet. They are never sent to us. If you back up your device (to your Google account on Android, or to iCloud or a computer on iPhone and iPad), the backup may include them. "Reset my progress" in the app's Settings deletes your scores, missed and saved questions, flashcards and exam simulator results for the state you are studying; deleting the app deletes everything.
- Ads: the app shows ads from Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK) to pay for its running costs. Google and its ad partners may collect your device's advertising identifier (the Advertising ID on Android; the IDFA on iPhone and iPad, only if you allow the app to track) or identifiers limited to this app or developer (such as the App Set ID on Android, and on iPhone and iPad Google's "publisher first-party ID", which the app leaves on and which helps show more relevant ads using data from this app), your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, information about your device and the app, the ads you see, your interactions with the app and its ads (such as app launches, taps and video views), and crash and performance information. They use it to show and measure ads, for analytics and diagnostics, to prevent fraud, and to personalize ads when you allow it. On iPhone and iPad, Apple's SKAdNetwork lets advertisers count app installs that came from an ad without identifying you. The ads are limited to Google's PG rating or lower (content for most audiences, with parental guidance). Google, its ad partners and Cloudflare handle this information under their own privacy policies and their terms with us or with Google, which require them to protect it at least as well as this policy does. You can read how Google uses it at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Your choices: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent tool before personalized ads are shown. Google's advertising in the app may count as "sharing" (and in some states as a "sale") of personal information under US state privacy laws; where those laws apply, you can opt out of it. Where these laws apply, the app's Settings has a "Privacy settings (ads)" row, where you can make or change these choices at any time. On iPhone and iPad, the app asks your permission to track, in Apple's App Tracking Transparency window, and Google can use your device's advertising identifier only if you allow it; if you answer no, or are never asked, the app works exactly the same and only the ads are less personalized. You can change that answer at any time: "Tracking permission (Settings)" in the app's Settings opens the app's page in your device's Settings, or go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Tracking. On Android you can also delete or reset your Advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization, in your phone's settings (Google, then Ads).
- Europe (EEA, UK and Switzerland): the app is made by the developer named on our About page. Ads that use identifiers or cookies rely on the consent you give in Google's consent message, which you can withdraw at any time under "Privacy settings (ads)"; an email you send us is used on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering it. You have the rights described under "Your privacy rights" above, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.
- Reporting a problem or an ad: "Report a problem" and "Report an ad" open your own email app with a short subject filled in (the app's language and, for a question, its number and state). Only if you send that email do we receive your email address, your message and that subject; we use them only to answer you, to fix the question or to block the ad, and we delete the email when it is no longer needed for that.
- Ratings: after a few finished quizzes, the app may ask the App Store or Google Play to show its rating window. Your rating and review go to Apple or Google under their terms; the app does not see them.
- Keeping and deleting data: the app's data stays on your device until you delete the app ("Reset my progress" deletes one state's progress sooner). On our side we keep nothing about you except an email you choose to send us; to have it deleted, write to us. Google keeps the information it holds for ads for the periods described at policies.google.com/technologies/retention; to limit or delete it, use the choices above and the controls described in Google's privacy policy.
The app is meant for people preparing for a driver's license knowledge test and is not directed at children under 13. For any privacy question or request about the app, contact us.
