Where the questions come from
Every question comes from the current official driver's manual of its state. Each rule, number or procedure the manual states becomes one multiple-choice question. Nothing is written from general knowledge: if the manual does not state an answer clearly, there is no question about it.
Each answer names the manual page that states it, so you can check it yourself. Where the state publishes its manual as a PDF that opens in the browser, the link "Open this page in the manual" takes you straight to that page.
How a question is checked
- The first draft of each question, its explanation and its translations are written with AI tools from the text of the official manual.
- A separate check compares each question, its answer and its explanation with the manual page it cites. Anything the page does not support is corrected or removed.
- We never guess. Where the manual's text cannot be read clearly, we read the page as an image or leave the fact out.
- The answer choices are shuffled every time you take a quiz, so the right answer is not always in the same place.
- The site's owner has reviewed a random sample of questions from every state by hand.
Translations
Questions are translated into the languages the state publishes its manual in, and always into Arabic. Where the state has its own manual in that language, the translation follows that manual's terms and cites its pages. We check translations in samples against the English text and the state's own manual.
Test information and license guides
The test facts on each state page and the driver's license guides use only the state agency's own pages and manual, and every item names its source. Where two official pages disagree, we leave the point out. We do not list fees, because they change often. Each guide is checked again every six months, and a monthly check tells us when a state's manual file changes or disappears.
Found a mistake?
Every question has a "Report a problem with this question" link that sends us an email with the question's number. We check the report against the manual, correct the question if it is wrong, and list the correction in the log below.
