Applicants must pass the MVD's written test before an Arizona instruction permit is issued. Before the road test you must show that you understand the meaning of Arizona traffic signs. On the road test an examiner rides with you on a route with a variety of traffic situations and grades specific actions and your general ability to drive safely.
